IMPORTANCE OF READING.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته 

 بسم الله والحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على أشرف المرسلين وعلى آله وصحبه أجمعين

 നമ്മുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തിൻ്റെ ഒരു മൂലക്കല്ലിനെക്കുറിച്ചാണ് ഞാൻ നിങ്ങളോട് സംസാരിക്കുന്നത്. അതായത് ഇസ്‌ലാമിലെ വായനയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ച്. ഇസ്‌ലാമിൻ്റെ ആവിർഭാവം മുതൽ തന്നെ വായനയും അറിവിൻ്റെ അന്വേഷണവും പരമപ്രധാനമായ ഒന്നായിരുന്നു. മുഹമ്മദ് നബി(സ)ക്ക് ആദ്യമായി വഹ്‌യ് ലഭിച്ചത് തന്നെ "ഇഖ്റഅ്" (താങ്കൾ വായിക്കുക) എന്ന കൽപ്പനയാണ്. നമ്മുടെ സ്രഷ്ടാവിനെയും അവൻ രൂപപ്പെടുത്തിയ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തെയും മനസ്സിലാക്കാനുള്ള ഒരു മാർഗമെന്ന നിലയിൽ വായനയുടെയും പഠനത്തിൻ്റെയും പ്രാധാന്യം ഈ ദിവ്യ പ്രബോധനം അടിവരയിടുന്നുണ്ട്. അറിവിനായുള്ള അന്വേഷണത്തെ ഇസ്‌ലാമിൽ കേവലം പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുക മാത്രമല്ല, ഓരോ മുസ്‌ലിമിനും നിർബന്ധമായി കണക്കാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്. "വിജ്ഞാനം തേടൽ ഓരോ മുസ്ലിമിൻ്റെയും ബാധ്യതയാണ്" എന്ന് മുഹമ്മദ് നബി (സ) പ്രസ്താവിച്ചു. ഈ ബാധ്യത ലിംഗം, പ്രായം, പദവി എന്നിവയ്ക്കതീതമാണ്, അറിവ് തേടുന്നത് ഒരു ആജീവനാന്ത യാത്രയാണെന്ന് ഊന്നിപ്പറയുന്നുണ്ട് ഇസ്ലാം. ശാസ്ത്രം, വൈദ്യം, ഗണിതശാസ്ത്രം, തത്ത്വചിന്ത തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ മേഖലകളിൽ മികവ് തെളിയിച്ച പണ്ഡിതന്മാരാൽ നിറഞ്ഞതാണ് ഇസ്ലാമിക ചരിത്രം. വായനയോടും പഠനത്തോടുമുള്ള അഗാധമായ ആദരവാണ് ഈ ബൗദ്ധിക പിന്തുടരൽ പാരമ്പര്യത്തെ നയിച്ചത്. ഈ പൈതൃകത്തിലൂടെയാണ് ആഗോള വിജ്ഞാന ശേഖരത്തിലേക്ക് മുസ്‌ലിംകൾ വളരെയധികം സംഭാവന നൽകിയത്. ഇസ്‌ലാമിലെ വായന ഭൗതിക വിജ്ഞാന സമ്പാദനത്തിൽ മാത്രം ഒതുങ്ങുന്നില്ല; അത് ആത്മീയവും ധാർമ്മികവുമായ വികാസത്തിനുള്ള ഒരു മാർഗമാണ്. നമ്മുടെ വിശുദ്ധ ഗ്രന്ഥമായ ഖുർആൻ നീതിയുടെയും ജ്ഞാനത്തിൻ്റെയും പാത പ്രകാശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു വഴികാട്ടിയാണ്. അതിലെ വാക്യങ്ങൾ വായിക്കുകയും പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതിലൂടെ, നമ്മുടെ ജീവിത ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും അല്ലാഹുവിൻ്റെ വിശേഷണങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചും നമുക്ക് ഉൾക്കാഴ്ച ലഭിക്കും. മുഹമ്മദ് നബി(സ)യുടെ വാക്കുകളും പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളും രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ഹദീസ് സാഹിത്യം നമ്മുടെ ധാരണയെ കൂടുതൽ സമ്പന്നമാക്കുന്നു. ഹദീസ് വായനകളിലൂടെ അനുകമ്പ, നീതി, ക്ഷമ, വിനയം ഇത്യാദി ശീലങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് നാം പഠിക്കുന്നു. ഈ സ്രോതസ്സുകൾ വായിക്കുന്നത് നമ്മുടെ ആത്മാവിനെ പരിപോഷിപ്പിക്കുകയും നമ്മുടെ ധാർമ്മികബോധം വർദ്ധിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ചുരുക്കത്തിൽ, ഇസ്‌ലാമിലെ വായനയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യം പറഞ്ഞറിയിക്കാനാവില്ല. ഇത് ഒരു ദൈവിക കൽപ്പനയാണ്, ആത്മീയവും ധാർമ്മികവുമായ സമ്പുഷ്ടീകരണത്തിലേക്കുള്ള പാതയാണ്, സാമൂഹിക പുരോഗതിക്കുള്ള അടിത്തറയാണ്.

 Today, I am honored to speak to you about a cornerstone of our faith: the importance of reading in Islam. From the inception of Islam, reading and the pursuit of knowledge have been paramount. The first revelation to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) begins with the command "Iqra" (Read). This divine instruction underscores the significance of reading and learning as a means to understand our Creator and the universe He has fashioned. In Islam, the quest for knowledge is not merely encouraged but deemed obligatory for every Muslim. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated, "Seeking knowledge is an obligation upon every Muslim". This obligation transcends gender, age, and status, emphasizing that the pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong journey. Islamic history is replete with scholars who have excelled in various fields such as science, medicine, mathematics, and philosophy. This tradition of intellectual pursuit was driven by a profound respect for reading and learning. It is through this legacy that Muslims contributed immensely to the global repository of knowledge. Reading in Islam is not limited to the acquisition of worldly knowledge; it is a means of spiritual and moral development. The Quran, our holy book, is a guide that illuminates the path of righteousness and wisdom. By reading and reflecting on its verses, we gain insight into our purpose in life and the attributes of Allah. The Hadith literature, recording the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), further enriches our understanding. Through these texts, we learn about the principles of compassion, justice, patience, and humility. Reading these sources nurtures our soul and enhances our moral fabric. The emphasis on reading and education in Islam extends to the betterment of society. A literate and educated community is equipped to address social challenges, promote justice, and foster intellectual and cultural advancement. By encouraging literacy, we empower individuals to reach their full potential and contribute positively to society. In conclusion, the importance of reading in Islam cannot be overstated. It is a divine command, a pathway to spiritual and moral enrichment, and a foundation for societal progress. As Muslims, we are called upon to seek knowledge, reflect on the teachings of the Quran and Hadith, and use our understanding to benefit humanity.
